This Privacy Notice sets out how we, the Next Generation Media Lawyers Association (“we” / “us”), collect information about you when you use or interact with our website (https://www.nextgenmedialawyers.co.uk/), and where we otherwise obtain or collect information from you (as set out in the circumstances below).

Information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • your name, contact details and other data collected via membership applications;

  • your payment information for membership fees;

  • your IP address and information related to the browser or device you use to access our website and other analytics data; and

  • any other information you may provide to us.

How we collect information

We may collect personal data when you do the following:

  • visit and use our website

  • purchase a service from us (e.g. membership and tickets to events);

  • attend evets;

  • contact us;

  • apply for membership or any other position within us;

  • when publishing. commentary and articles; and

  •  engage with us on social media.

We may also send you direct marketing in relation to our products and services or other products and services by us. We will always provide the ability to opt-out of electronic direct marketing.

How we store your personal information

We are committed to doing all that we can to keep your data secure.  

We will not usually hold personal data for more than six years after it ceases to be current.

We may retain your data for a longer period if we reasonably believe we need to retain it to protect our interests (such as in the event of suspected crime or for prospective or actual legal proceedings), in which case your data will be deleted when it is no longer necessary for us to retain it for this purpose.

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  • your right to object to processing – you have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

  •  your right to data portability – you have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
